How to Harvest

Using your Secchi Stick, see if you're ready to harvest. Check out: How to Measure Density.

Recommended: Harvest once a week to have fresh spirulina on hand. Refrigerate for up to 2-3 weeks to maintain freshness. Freeze into ice cubes for up to a year.

1. Put the Filter over the 5-gallon Bucket.
2. Place the 5-gallon Bucket beneath your Tank.
3. Open the spigot to start filtering.
4. Once you have harvested 3/4 of the tank, close the spigot.
5. Using distilled water, rinse the spirulina caught on the filter.
6. After you harvest, pour the water back into the tank so the spirulina continues to grow.
7. Use a paper towel or cloth on the backside of the filter to dry the spirulina faster
8. Using a spoon or spatula, scoop the spirulina off of the filter.
9.Add a tablespoon or a few to a glass of cold water for the best green drink you've ever had or refrigerate in an airtight container.
10. At the end of each month, make sure to add 1 bag of Spirulina Food and 20 drops from the Iron Dropper so your spirulina continues to grow strong.
